John Quincy Adams (1767 – 1848) Sixth President of theUnited States and Henry Clay (1777 – 1852) U.S. Congressman, Senator andpolitician. Document Signed. February 13, 1826. 1 page. 11 ½” x 15”. Printed onvellum. Passport for the “Brig Quito of New York…of the burthen of one hundredthirty-eight 10/95 tons of thereabouts mounted with no guns…to pass her companypassengers, goods and merchandize without any hinderance…” White wafer seal atlower left. Boldly signed by Adams and countersigned by Henry Clay as Secretaryof State. But for a small loss of vellum at left center, this would beconsidered a choice example.
