Discovery time: 2016

Classification: low weathering of siderite

Olive meteorites account for only 0.3% of the total meteorites, which is very rare. In 2016, two African brothers were looking for their missing camels. When they passed through Habawi in the south of Sericho and several large and dense stone areas in the south of Kenya, they found some special rocks. Because there are few rocks in this area, they thought these rocks could be meteorites. They spent a few weeks collecting the stones and then moving them to their home in Gabaway. Although they were recognized as meteorites in 2016, camel herders have known the existence of these stones for decades. An old man in the village said that when he was young, he and his brothers would play on stones. Time flies to the beginning of January 2017, Michael Farmer received an email showing a photo of a \"giant Palast\" weighing 107 kg. He went to Nairobi to buy the stone. Two weeks later, he took Moritz Karl back to Kenya and went to Khabawe. Here, they showed a lot of specimens, which were stacked in the yard of two houses. So far, 2.8 tons have been found.

Physical characteristics: It starts from a few kilometers to the southwest of Khabawe and is south of Sericho in Isolo County. These smaller fragments were found close to Khabave, but still in Isolo County. The villagers continued to search for debris, mainly on the surface. Meteorites found on the ground surface are less weathered, and there is a small piece of fused crust on the metal. Most of the stones are massive, showing some large regmaptypes. Some flight guided specimens were found.

Petrology: Slices of several stones show similar metal/olivine ratios, averaging close to 70% olivine and less than 1% chromite. A 15-21 cm slice shows 95% olivine in the area. Olive is mostly round, less common is symmetrical, olive is orange. Olive grains are generally 0.5 to 1 cm in diameter, although some range up to 4 cm. A slice shows a 5 cm cruciform nickel iron. The metal dominates the olivine around the olivine, with some black etched plates. The rich areas of rare metals show developed Widmanstein texture. The attachment is Schreiberstite. No large metal veins or metal quality were found.

Geochemistry: (L. Garvie, L. Garvie, L. Garvie, ASU), Olivan, 3. 1,2/mno=57.4,Cr2O3=0.03,n=15; 1。 6。 0 6。 0 1。 0 50。 2%,P=0。 06。 02%,n=17; And schreibersite (Fe1.51Ni1.45Co0.01) P, n=3.

Weight: 98.2grams

Size: 148.8*116.6MM

Reminder: Because the meteorite contains iron, it is easy to rust and corrode when exposed to the air, so we will wrap it with epoxy coating. This prevents the meteorite from rusting and keeps it longer. Please understand that!

Tip: This product is a naturally formed shape, so each product is unique, if you like this product, please buy it as soon as possible, otherwise other buyers will buy and collect
