This sale is for five Pewabic pottery rectangular accent tiles that were salvaged from a historic building in Detroit, MI. The glaze is a slightly iridescent black and green. There are three long rectangular tiles that are rounded and have a centered \"X\" and two end tiles that match. Please see my other sales for more Pewabic tile lots.
Pewabic Pottery was founded in 1903 by Mary Chase Perry (Stratton) and Horace Caulkins. They became a leader in the Arts and Crafts movement in Detroit during a time that was a golden age for both pottery and tile. Demand for Pewabic grew thanks to its stunning iridescent glazes and inspiring architectural tile installations throughout southeast Michigan and across the country.
