InDecember of 2016,a portion of the tail of a small dinosaur wasreported in a piece of burmite amber and inJune of 2017, a nearly complete, extinct bird was reported in a piece of burmite amber!
This is a fully polished piece of burmite (Burmese) amber that contains a super rare group of fine mammal hair strands, probably from a now extinct mammal that walked with the dinosaurs along with a worker ant, a wasp, and a psocopteran. Mammal hairs are very seldom seen in any location of amber fossils but to find some in Cretaceous Period amber is especially unique.
It is fascinating to note that these organisms would have been on the Earth at the time of the dinosaurs!
