New Bedford Glass Works VTG Amberina Cup Plate Glows Orange Glassblower at Work:
$18.00

New Bedford Glass Works Vintage 1984 Amberina Cup Plate Vintage Window Decoration Glows Orange Under Black Light Made in USA This heavy glass cup plate \"feels\" like a Pairpoint cup plate, but it is not. The cup plate was manufactured by New Bedford Glass Works in 1984, by Roy Wilson, a former Pairpoint employee. On the rim is the lettering NEW BEDFORD GLASS WORKS 1984. The center of the plate features a Glass Blower at work. This amberina color cup plates has a lovely orange glow when under a black light (see photo) similar to the older uranium glass cup plates. Handcrafted on Cape Cod using time-honored techniques, these 3.5 inch cup plates have subtle variations that highlight the artisan\'s skill. Each cup plate is crafted using a mold created with a hammer and chisel, and then pressed with molten glass using an antique press. This manufacturing process results in cup plates that are similar yet possess their own distinctive characteristics. Look closely and you\'ll find the artisan\'s initials and the Pairpoint trademark within the design. Beyond their aesthetic appeal, these versatile art glass pieces can add functionality to your home, serving as catchall dishes for organizing small items or ring dishes to keep your treasured jewelry safe.
