Non-dug and Identified Civil War Colt Patent .31 Double Cavity Bullet Mold:
$170.00

Up for sale is this this Colt\'s Patent .31 bullet mold looks as though it has really been through it. The \"Colt Patent\" stamp is barely visible. One of the handles is bent due to the pressure applied over a period of time. Lots of dings from use. The owner\'s name is stamped on it three places. One one location, only the \"C\" and a couple of the letters in the last name are visible.

The name is so worn that I almost gave up trying to make it out. Finally figured out the name is C Espenschied. From the Find A Grave web site, his full name was John C Espenschied and he was born in 1840 . According to the Soldiers and Sailors Data Base, there was only one soldier with that last name in either army. He joined the 195th Regiment of the Pennsylvania Volunteers, on February 14, 1865, at the age of 25 in Lancaster County, PA. He was assigned to Company I. The regiment performed guard duty at various railroads lines and fords in the Shenandoah Valley until they were mustered out in Washington DC on January 31, 1866.
