Old Sharpening Oil Stone 7 X 2 X 1”, Wood Case, Fine Grit Honing Stone, See Desc For Sale

Old oil sharpening stone in wood base holder that was found in an old carpenter chest that had wood planes in it. The stone measures 7 x 1 7/8” x 1” thick. Light brownish color that feels like fine grit hone. Sheen to surface shows a slight wave to surface so a lapping would be necessary for perfect flatness. Some edge chipping pictured and in last 2 pictures.This could be a very special stone as it has smooth finish and was found with wood planes from the 1800’s. I was unable to remove stone from wood holder, but it does have a wiggle, so I strongly believe it can be removed.
