Originalantique lithograph titled "Baggage-Train of Pope's Army MakingTheir Way Toward Manassas Junction,"printedmore than 115 years ago.

  • It was based on a sketch byartist Edwin Forbesand shows Union teamsters whipping horses straining to pull loadedsupply wagons through the mud.
  • The image area measures 36 x 23 cm [14¼" x 9"],with generous margins on all sides.
  • Condition: This original lithograph is in verygood condition, bright and clean, with nomarks,rips, tears, or creases. It is printed on a lightweight paper that hastoned slightly with age, giving it a fine antique patina.Please see the scans and feelfree to ask any questions.
  • The baggage-train shown in the lithograph was on its wayto Manassas Junction, near the site of what would become known as theSecond Battle of Bull Run or Battle of Second Manassas, fought August29–30, 1862.The battle was a significant tactical victory for the Confederates,another blow to Union morale, and a turning point in the career ofGeneral JohnPope, who was relieved of command on September 12, 1862.
  • This is an original, authentic antique lithograph, nota reproduction or modern reprint, and it is fully guaranteed to begenuine.
  • It was published in Battles and Commandersof the Civil War, edited by General Marcus Joseph Wright,Washington, D.C., 1902, from a drawing done by Edwin Forbes, one of thesketchartists who covered the Civil War for Frank Leslie’s Illustrated Newspaper.
