Rare Pair of 18th Century English Antique Pewter Flat Rim Plates, JONAS DURAND, c. 1732 - 1775. This pair of early pewter plates have a a flat rim with good weight and are from the middle of the 18th Century. The plates are rare examples by a maker I had never been able to offer for sale before coming across a few in a recent lot I was able to purchase. One plate is marked on the back rim with the distinctive mark of Jonas Durand who worked out of London from 1732 to 1775. The second plate has a worn impressed mark in the center of the back. This plate was purchased on Charles Street in Boston on May 22, 1967. The first plate with the maker\'s mark, that mark can be found in Cotterrell mark# 1475.
