Pattern 1854 British Officers sword Queen Victoria Indian Mutiny and Crimea era For Sale

Extremely rare Pattern 1854 British Officers piquet sword by famous sword maker Ranken & Co, one of the best known sword makers in the British Empire apart from Wilkinson. Indian Mutiny (1857 to 1858) and Crimean War era (ended 1856). Infantry Officers sword with Light Infantry bugle and Queen Victoria crown on the hilt basket. Has the Damascus steel star and brass proof slug insert on one side, Ranken & Co name and logo on the other. Hilt has most of its original nickel plating on the outside, loss of plating on the handle and inside of the basket due as per age. Some pretty minor areas of pitting.Beautiful Queen Victoria \"V.R\" cypher on one side of the sword with Crown and excellent stylised Victorian etchings. The other side also has beautiful intact etchings including the Bugle and a Tudor rose. There are also a rampant lion and horse as per the British coat of arms with the Queens crown on top. The etchings are outstanding high-quality workmanship. There are a couple of dark marks on the blade due to age but overall the blade is very nice. It is 33 inches long.The sharkskin shagreen handle coverings are intact. There is some missing wire fastening in a couple of places on the handle that is hardly noticeable.
Comes with the original steel nickel plated scabbard with intact rings and brass top and both fastening screws. The nickel is almost worn away and there is some light expected patina and pitting otherwise very solid.Please rely on the pictures to show condition. I will post this anywhere at your cost.
