Henry Moser & Co, Hy Moser & Cie The legendary \"Russian Swiss\" firm Henry Moser & Cie was founded by Johann Henry Moser in Le Locle, Switzerland. Having sent its products to Russia, the company found a huge sales market, and all production was focused on the Russian market. The founder of the company, Johann Heinrich Moser was born in the Swiss city of Schaffhausen, in the family of a watchmaker. He perfected his skills as a watchmaker in Le Locle, where he moved with his father. Moser appeared in Russia in the 1820s, and in 1826 he created a watch workshop in St. Petersburg, slightly changing the sound of his name into the English manner - Henry Moser. Already in 1828, G. Moser opened a trade office in St. Petersburg, and in 1839 - a Trading House in Moscow.Watch shops \"G. Moser\" in addition to Moscow and St. Petersburg addresses had a Nizhny Novgorod registration. Through the Nizhny Novgorod fair, watches assembled in Russia penetrated into India and China. All the components of the \"Moser\" watch were ordered in the workshops of Le Locle, and watches were assembled from them in St. Petersburg. At the same time, some cases and dials were made in St. Petersburg, as evidenced by the Russian-language inscriptions \"G. MOZER IN MOSCOW\" on some copies.G. Moser\'s factory produced a wide range of pocket watches - men\'s and women\'s, with and without a fight, in gold, silver and steel cases of various styles, with a key winding and \"in the handle\" (that is, with a remontoir), chronographs. Gold watches with a repeater, with quarters and minutes, with a perpetual calendar and the Moon (that is, with an indication of the lunar phases) were considered especially expensive. Different types of pocket watches were offered (or, in modern terms, brands): \"Blondel\", \"Robert\", \"Lepin\", \"Salter\", \"Tobias\" and others. Gradation was carried out according to the type of specific device of the mechanism. The product must be branded. Moreover, the location of the hallmark and its informativeness also reflected the quality and cost of the watch. For example, watches with only \"Hy Moser & Co\" written on the inside of the lid, without a brand name, were of higher quality and cost more. Of these, those on which the inscription of the company was engraved in Gothic type were considered to be of the highest quality. Carl Faberge ordered such mechanisms from G. Moser for his jewelry works.Pocket watches \"G. Moser\" were so popular and in demand that their fakes appeared. Therefore, in the trade price lists of these firms, among the list of store addresses, types of watches and prices for them, there were so-called \"WARNINGS\".For example, in the Trade Price List of the Moser factory for March 1906 it is written that \"in order to eliminate cases of abuse by some merchants of the name of our company, we consider it necessary to recommend that those who wish to purchase watches from our factory pay special attention to whether the proposed pocket watch is placed in the brands available on them and inscriptions in French before the name \"MOSER & Co\" the letters \"Hy\", since only with such hallmarks and inscriptions are watches truly products of our factory. These warnings are useful for modern watch collectors as well.
