VERY RARE COLLECTORS WAR RELIC
This is superb presentation sword that’s been hiding in a private collection for the past 70 years. It’s an “Extra/Deluxe” model 1889 German/Prussian officer’s degen with a heavily decorated gilded hilt. There are very few deluxe models in existence today. It has a shagreen (shark skin) and wire handle with the cypher of Kaiser Wilhelm II and folding/locking guard with Prussian eagle. It still locks tight to the scabbard too, which is a 1910 model (black with single ring vs nickel with 2 rings).
The straight blade is double-fullered and has the inscription “Eisenhauer” on one side, but most notable is the inscription on the other side of the blade which reads “Ubbelohde S./L. Sturm”. The “S./L.” stands for “seinem lieben” which means “to my dear” and indicates that this sword was presented to a military officer of high rank and importance.
