RED WHITE HEART 100 gm-AFRICAN INDIAN TRADE BEADS-MURANO VENETIAN VINTAGE GLASS

The size of these beads are approximately 2 mm in diameter, 3 mm in height & the hole size is about 1mm. The variation of size in Murano glass makes it excellent for appliqués & anywhere you need just the right bead size & shape!

These are un-circulated, new-old stock beads. They may be a little dusty from years of storage

Venetian glass crow beads where made between the late 1800’s-1920’s on an island called Murano in Italy by Societa Veneziana Conterie. Which was a consortium of 16 independent Venetian glass bead makers that joined together from 1898 to 1992. Every bead was made by hand which helped to keep their world renowned artistry mostly secret. The art of making these unique handmade drawn beads was a dangerous & skillful process including pulling a molten glass bubble into a long thin cane and then cutting it into beads & filing them down. Many of the glass canes used for manufacturing these beads date back a lot further than the consortium. We offer mostly antique glass seed beads ranging from size 6o to 20o, crow, pony, tile, gooseberries, white hearts, chevrons, & chevron canes which date back to about 1898-1920. While the Murano mosaic beads where manufactured between1960-1970 and there are very few of those available. Most often these beads were traded to Africa & the Native American Indians for land, gold, slaves and other valuables which is why they are often referred to as “trade beads.” These were previously uncirculated glass beads, therefore they are all mostly in excellent & clean condition. We have 10 tons available of these beads in a huge variety of colors and sizes in quantities of 1/2 pound to 60 pounds for each type, so keep checking back for new listings.
