Pontoosuc is a small village located in Hancock County, Illinois, United States. The village is situated in northern Hancock County and is bordered to the north by the Mississippi River, which forms the state border with Iowa. The village covers a total area of 2.07 square miles, of which 1.41 square miles is land and 0.67 square miles is water.
Illinois Route 9 and Illinois Route 96 pass through the village, leading east into Dallas City and west to the Fort Madison Toll Bridge over the Mississippi. The village has a rich local history and is known as a quiet little fishing village on the Mississippi River.
