Rare ANTIQUE Family Record 1859 FRAKTUR Berks PA Mengel Dunkel CALLIGRAPHY
We will try to write out all information on Family Record - some is tough to decipher so it may not be exactly 100% accurate. This is a rarely found Pennsylvania- Berks County hand done Calligraphy Family Record for Mengel and Dunkel Families.
\" Family Record of Charles Mohnson Mengel son of William & Sarah Seaman Mengel born July 5th 1850 at Hamburg Berks County baptized on Dec 25th 1850 by Revered Joseph Apple Sponsors His Parents. Confirmed March 27th 1875by Rev Thos. T Jager at St Johns Church at Hamburg PA And His Wife:Sarah Sophia daughter of John & Elizabeth Sargent Dunkel born Dec 7 1858 in Greenwich Berks County PA baptized Feb 24th 1859by Rev F.J. Jager Sponsors Her Parents Confirmed in The Spring of 1860 by Rev Augustus L. Herman Dunkles Reformed Church in ????? PA. June 12 1890??? J Geo E Franck Kempton Berks Co PA. Please see the item for your own interpretation. There is a tear or loss on the document in the lower left-hand corner at the bottom. Please see all photos. It is framed in an older black painted frame with a gold gilt liner and has some honest authentic wear and loss. The reverse side is a lithographic type Holy Bond of Matrimony Certificate for Charles Mengel and Sarah Dunkel.
The dates are faded and difficult to read but it appears that they were married on the 24th of December 1881- but we could be mistaken. They were married in Hamburg PA Berks County. This certificate may have been printed in a Bible and then taken out for framing on reverse side of their Family Record. The Frame is approx 10.75\" X 8.25\" and the interior that is framed on the black frame side is approx 9.5\" X 7\". This is a really neat Family Record and certificate of Marriage. It is also from a really old portion of Pennsylvania. We had it for many years and thought it was such a neat piece of history that we would list it and possibly have it find its rightful owner or owners.
