Rare Antique Antique American Clock Company Early Dry Cell Battery Mantle Clock :
$649.00

Step back in time with this extraordinary Antique Clock from The American Clock Company of Chicago, dating back to the early 1900s. 1901-1905 Merging the innovative prowess of The Automatic Electric Clock Company and the United States Pneumatic Clock Company, this timepiece boasts a rich history and exceptional craftsmanship Featuring the patented movement by Fred I Getty, with double weighted arm movements ensuring continuous power, this clock is truly unique. Its suspension springs and pendulum connection set it apart from other early electric clocks. Designed to run on two #6 batteries or 3 volts.

Please note that the pendulum guide and pendulum have been removed, and the clock is being sold as is, for parts or repair. It currently has two old dry cell batteries, one of which can be easily removed, while the other is warped at the bottom and may require more effort to remove from the bottom wooden insert. The bottom wooden back is slightly warped, and the original front gold motifs have faded over time, as depicted in the pictures. Despite these minor issues, the clock is in pretty nice overall condition.

Described as "cherished pieces in many electric clock collections" in the book "150 Years of Electric Horology," clocks from The American Clock Company are prized for their quality. Notably, the company was an exhibitor at the 1901 USA World's Fair and won the Gold Medal for Timekeeping Excellence at the Paris Exposition around the same time. Own a piece of history and elegance with this remarkable antique clock.
