Circa approx. 1890s -1910s
This antique singing bird box crafted in the late 1800s/very early 1900s. By unknown maker, highly possible crafted by "OMM/Raymy" of Geneva Switzerland. Base on the peculiar rear mounted governor fan movement designed.
The bird is highly colorful boasting iridescent blue & green feathersand pastel red, green, blue and orange feathers.

This bird box operate smoothly Birdhas incredibly strong singing, vibrant animation, and hits all oscillatingnotes. The box runs smoothly:
This movement is different than most. It’s a Swiss movementnot German KG movement. The obvious difference is where the governor fan is located,in the back. Typically, (German KG movement) governor fans are located on theside, but this is located in the back, and has a long endless screw to allowfor the governor fan to be in the back. The other difference is the mechanismthat allows the bird to rotate clockwise and counter-clockwise is alsodifferent compared to most. Typically you would have what is called a rackstrip, which is a tiny piece of metal that runs perpendicular to the shaft ofwhere the bird sits, and as the rack strip moves back and forth, this is whatmakes the bird turn. In this case, the gearing mechanism is more substantialand is what Rochat used in his early fusée type movements. Moreover, the birdbox is quieter than most. You can hear the governor fan running, but overallthere is less noise from the mechanism. It is a superior design which allowsfor the entire singing bird box to be sturdier and last longer.
