Rare One of \"Walt\'s Boys\" by Harry Tytle Signed limited edition of 750 - Disney:
$425.00

RareONE OF \"WALT\'S BOYS\" : AN INSIDER\'S ACCOUNT OF DISNEY\'S GOLDEN YEARSBy Harry Tytle - 1997Limited Signed Early Edition No 211 of 750Harry started at Disney in 1936 and within several years he became the Studio Production Manager. In 1945, Tytle began keeping a daily diary of his work at the Studio. This book is based on those diaries. Bill Justice wrote in the forward: “This is it–the indisputable account of the Walt Disney Studio by the gentleman who arranged and personally attended more meetings with Walt Disney than anyone in theOrganization.” The book offers 26 illustrations (several color tipped in caricatures) and photos (including a great one of Walt working with a couple of the boys in his office!), but the real pièce de résistance of this book is the enormous amount of great information, much of it never before released—and it is accompanied by an exhaustive index. The book was limited to 750 copies and each one is hand-numbered and signed by Tytle. The edition includes a tipped in envelope titled “Reports to Walt” that holds a facsimile three-page inter-office communication from Harry to Walt dated 4/16/65 on the 1965-66 Disneyland TV Show. Another neat extra is a fold out (15\" x 20\")WDP flow chart dated May 21, 1943, showing how the Disney Studio functions. It lists over 50different departments, who they answer to, their function, and how it all flows back to Walt. The book is printed on high-quality paper (it weighs close to four pounds!) and is hardbound. Remember it is limited to 750 copies

An online Book site review -

This book is an incredible item for collectors of Walt Disney history books. It was published in 1997 in a small run and has not been republished since, and is now extremely rare. This is a limited edition of only 750 copies, signed by the author. It is a hardback binding that is published without a dust jacket. (There is a more affordable version that came in a plastic slipcase. It is huge and thick, one of the heaviest books I have ever owned. It comes with a laid-in insert reproduction of a inter-office envelope from the Walt Disney animation department and a report to Walt inside. It also has a laid-in insert reproduction of an employee organizational chart of the Walt Disney company at the time.

This is one of the few books written by an upper management employee who worked on animation, live-action film and television, and even overseas for Walt. The author dealt with Walt at a very different level than an animator would, so this book is quite different from other insider books about Walt or the studio. Harry Tytle brings a very different perspective to his book. He was a producer for Walt Disney Studios, and worked alongside Walt on many projects over the years. He worked his entire career through to retirement at the company, working on film and television projects. This book has very unique stories I have never read anywhere else. I really enjoyed stories about his trips overseas with Walt, planning meetings, problems with staff and directors, and the studio\'s interaction with film stars like Annette Funicello. I highly recommend to anyone interested in the history of the behind the scenes decision making process at the studio. Good luck finding a copy now, as this book is now rare as hen teeth.

OK ......

I personally bought this Book in 1997 direct from the Publisher, and have carefully read it once, I think the above sum up its contents excellently, The Book has aArt house/Home publishedtype of feel with inserts and attached illustrations, and comes complete with the WDP flow Chart (last Photo), and has been very carefully stored.

The Pages are Excellent, crisp and have no marks, folds or tears, the white text on the spine shows signs of minor wear albeit the book has had little use,and on some pages the binding is a little loose (see Photo 11)but still holding well, However Isuspect this is something to do with the publishing method.

As Mentioned above many times, A Very rare andfascinatingBook and VERYreluctant Sale
