Rare 1933 Art Deco Packaging Catalog Hardback Book
This is an AMAZING and RARE book published at the height of the Art Deco era in 1933. The \"1933 Packaging Catalog,\" is a catalog aimed at retailers and manufacturers — anyone that needed packaging, labeling or a bottle or container to put their product in. The book was published by the Breskin & Charlton Publishing Corporation and includes an amazing amount of REAL packaging samples, from labels, to paper, to bottles and jars, to actual boxes, all of them stapled or glued to the pages. All of the samples that are glued or stapled had to be done by hand, a major reason for the $10 price of the book, the equivalent of $183 in today\'s dollars. Dozens of manufacturers, from Bakelite Corp. to 3M, are represented (most of them no longer in business).
This book is one of the few survivors that exist. I have counted 42 packaging samples that have been glued or stapled to manufacturer pages. In that count I am also including the high-quality lithograph samples printed on heavy, poster stock paper.
Book is large, heavy hardcover and measures 11-1/2 X 8-3/4 inches and has 292 pages. Will be shipped insured.
CONDITION: Very good vintage condition for an 83-year-old book with some moisture damage (6 pages are stuck together where it appears glue from the product sample stuck to the opposite page). Please see photos for details. NOTE: I have many more photos I can email of the sample packaging on interior pages.
