Maker and size: This gorgeous pair of 6 3/8 inch plates by the Martial Redon company is evidence of the exceptionally high quality that makes Limoges porcelain so famous, and so coveted.
Redon produced fine quality porcelain in Limoges from 1882 until around 1896, when it became part of the Barny & Rigoni company. In 1905 or 1906, the company was renamed La Porcelaine Limousine, and under that name it continued to produce superb quality porcelain until it closed in the late 1930s.
Age: On the reverse of these plates is the green variation of the underglaze \"M.Redon Limoges\" white ware mark number 3 that was in use between 1892 to 1896.
The second mark that appears is the La Porcelaine Limousine mark number 1 that was in use between 1905 and the 1930s. That makes 1905 the earliest these plates could have been produced.
Design: The pattern features a subtle Greek key band. Its elegant simplicity would blend beautifully with countless other patterns by Redon or other top quality makers.
Condition: The plates are in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, nicks, repairs, scratches, crazing, discoloration or wear.
