The Flying Yankee Streamliner Zephyr Train Stainless Steel Dog Tag Keychain:
$12.95

The Flying Yankee / Burling Route Streamliner Zephyr Train Stainless Steel Dog Tag KeychainUsing the original patent of the historic Flying Yankee stainless steel train we have created a stainless steel dog tag memento of the illustration on the patent. This keychain is the same size (1-1/8\" x 2\") as a US military GI dog tag but much heavier and higher quality. It is 100% Made in the USA and laser engraved in our New Hampshire shop by a patented Swiss laser fusion process that is so durable it has been used by NASA on the International Space Station and Hubble Space Telescope. The engraving will not be affected by heat, salt water, chemicals, solvents and can\'t be rubbed off.The Flying Yankee was a diesel-electric streamliner built in 1935 for the Maine Central Railroad and the Boston and Maine Railroad by Budd Company. It was one of a handful of trains built with the eye-catching stainless steel “streamliner” design. The Flying Yankee was fast, capable of speeds of more than 100 miles per hour and was cheaper to operate than conventional steam locomotives. This was made possible by a six-cylinder, 600 horsepower diesel-engine built by the Electro-Motive Corporation\'s Winton Engine Company. It traveled under various names, depending on the route. As the Flying Yankee it went south-north between Boston and Bangor, Maine; as the Minuteman it went east-west from Boston to Troy, N.Y.; as the Mountaineer it was a ski train between Boston and North Conway New Hampshire. The Flying Yankee was retired in 1957.
