Two George Ahgupuk Drawings on Skin and Early Period Hand Carved Kayak:
$749.00

George was born in 1911 in Shishmaref, Alaska. Shishmaref is on the Bering Sea approximately 90 miles from Russia. Twok is his Eskimo name, it means \"man\". The drawings and art he created depicted his actual experiences. He grew up learning subsistenceliving skills. He started drawing when he was laid up in a hospital in 1934. The smaller of the two artworks size is; 4 1/2 \" X 6 1/2 \", and the larger one is 13 3/4 \" X 8 1/4 \". In both pieces of artwork there is a red like ribbon laced through the border of the hide. The Kayak is hand carved somewhat primitive, but made very well. It looks like a depiction of a real Kayak. The Kayak has a bone ended harpoon and what looks like it would have been an anchor. The Harpoon has sinew wrapped around it. The Kayak is 16 \" long and is 1 3/4\"wide. One end of the Kayak has just the tip broken off. It looks like it happened long ago. The red on the Kayak echos the red on the Artwork. Examples of George\'s Artwork can be found on the web pages at the following locations:
