US Civil War M1840 Medical Staff Officers Sword with Brass Scabbard. The lower part of the blade is marked \"Ames Mfg. Co. Chicopee, Mass\". The grip is tight to the blade but the crossguard is a little loose. The \"M\" in the \"MS\" on the crossguard is missing the left edge. The etched blade has \"U.S. Medical Staff\" on it, overall it is straight, unsharpened, the tip is a little sharp, no nicks, and it has some age spots scattered throughout. The brass scabbard is solid with some small dents/dings, a few scratches, and is missing the drag. Washer is missing. Length of the blade is 29\" (5/8\" wide and 1/4\" thick), the sword is 35 3/8\", and in the scabbard it is 35 7/8\".
