This vintage African mask button,
I BELIEVE to be antique/vintage Bakelite.
The button is a beautiful black color with whitish area that complements its vintage originality.
It is a perfect addition to your collection, especially if you are a fan of buttons from the sewing era (1930-now).
Its unique design and material make it a rare find that is sure to impress any button enthusiast.
This collectible item from the (presumably) *bakelite era is perfect for adding to your collection or using in your sewing projects.
*Passed my Bakelite tests, but professional collectors should know via pictures. I have a belt buckle from Czechoslovakia as well (on currently), that appears to definitely be Bakelite as well. These items were inherited in same group of buttons and buckles, so I assume they are Bakelite. Again, I am not 100% certain, but I am pretty confident they both are based on tests.
It is approximately 1” with an unknown metal used for ear rings. Metal backing as well.
I’m unsure if the mask had more colouring long ago, as all crevices, as shown are a faded greyish-white. Mouth is white with minimal fading as well (as shown).
Unbelievably cool, antiquated button. Rare find.
Thanks for checking out my store!! ❤️❤️
