Vintage Rare 1940\'s Abingdon Pottery Bar Jar Hippo Cookie Jar For Sale

Vintage 1940's Abingdon Pottery Hippo Bar Jar Cookie Jar.

It measures approximately 8" tall X 6 3/4" in diameter at the base and depicts a smiling hippo with lipstick with a mane of black hair and long eyelashes. She has a frilly apron that reads "Bar Jar" and is holding a pretzel.

Condition:

Displays very nicely as an old piece and is holding up but there are some overall heavy hairlines or crazing, possibly a crack that was repaired on one of the ears (though I see no glue or signs of repair anywhere) and a chip on the rim.

The underside of the lid & base are impressed with a mold #549 and there is the "Abingdon - U.S.A." mark in blue on the underside of the base.
