THE ITEM DESCRIPTION:The Western ElectricNo. 10 tapered shaft candlestick telephone was in production from1898 to 1904. It is 12” high. The back of the transmitter head ismarked Patented In USA Nov 17 – 91 Nov 1 – 92. The bottom frontof the transmitter has a small number plate with the number 424. Thelong pole receiver with 2 outside terminals is a brown bakelite orgutta percha material & measures 7 ½” high. Receiver isunmarked. The receiver appears to have been cracked or broken &repaired. The repaired area is about the midpoint of the pole on 1side & measures about 1 ¾” long. You can see remnants of theglue repair. A well done repair. The telephone is nickel plated brass& the original nickel finish is in outstanding condition with 1wear spot on the bottom of the transmitter just above ENTE in theword Patented. The gold colored cord coming out of the base israggedy & is probably original. The red/black cord with the 4ends having metal pins to attach to the phone is old but is notlikely original. The 2 knurled knobs that hold the cord in place atthe top of the receiver do not match. The larger 1 is original &the smaller one appears to be a replacement. The green cord thatconnects the phone shaft to the transmitter also appears to beoriginal. On the bottom is the remnants of original green felt. Allof the telephones that I have for sale are being sold “as is” &“as found.” I never did any work to the phones in my collectionwhich was assembled between the years 1990 & 1994.
