The staggeringamount of strong material in this thin but dense volume makes it a perennialfavorite. Why? Because Williamson has a rare gift for plot innovations. Takethe Card to Pocket plot. His “Fifty-one Cards to Pocket” is amodern twist, in which you cause every card EXCEPT a selected one to jump intoyour pocket. It’s simple yet ingenious. His Cups and Balls (using onlytwo cups) is hilarious and deceptive. David’s “Three CardTrick” is also a modern classic and a fine effect where magic happensDESPITE your best efforts.
David Williamsonis a wonderful performer and an extremely funny man. His wild style makes hisperformances a laugh a minute. He is best known for his work with Rocky theRaccoon and his extraordinary move, the striking vanish. The famous StrikingVanish is written up here and is in and of itself worth the price of the book.If you are unfamiliar with Williamson’s striking vanish you are in for anamazingly deceptive and useful move.
Anothernoteworthy effect is Rebate where any regular pen is borrowed and shaken. Coinscan be heard rattling in the pen’s cap, upon which the magician removesthe cap and two dimes and a nickel fall out. You then put the coins back intothe pen and shake it where they can be heard again in the cap. The pen is thenhanded out for inspection.
There are no badeffects in this book, it is packed full of amazing effects, routines, and movesthat are part of why David Williamson is so well respected in the magiccommunity. If you are serious about magic and like utility moves, and verycommercial routines this book is for you.
