View Larger Image   J S Hand Adze 6" wide Cutter   Description: This is a really nice, 6" wide hand adze marked "J S". I am not sure of the maker. This adze weighes 3 pounds and the cutting edge is nearly flat, but I refer to the shape of it as a very mild sweep, or the total amount of the arc of the blade is less than 1/8" from center line of the cutter to the outside edge of the cutter. The old wood handle is about 9" long, and is design to be removed by pushing the handle through the end of the adze head, or a socket tapered handle, fits nicely. There is an area on the exterior of the head socket that looks like it was a part of the forging process, not perfect, but is damaged, and is not causing any issues with use. The cutting edge is sharp, but could use some honing to your liking before use.
