View Larger Image   Davis Rule Auger Bit Brace 8 Inch Rare!   Description: This is a nice clean hand brace, and it has a 8" sweep. It is marked "MFG'D BY THE DAVIS RULE & LEVEL CO. SPRINGFIELD MASS. PAT. OCT. 18.1884" on the chuck sleeve. The chuck is in good condition with nice heavy duty double jaw inserts, in good condition, the knurled part of the chuck or the chuck sleeve is brass and has some dings but fairly nice shape overall. The head is hardware is brass, capped with a nice threaded rosewood handle. The condition is good+ overall, with some little wear overall, some wear, and one small chip off rosewood head handle, (I am not sure what wood material the sweep handle is, but I think it is ebony), That makes me wonder if the head handle is original or not, seems like they would have matched. but still nice looking. In really good working condition, a very good hard to find model with the Davis name on it.
