The chisel wasrecently obtained from a collector’s tool estate sale, exact age is unknown.
Ibelieve this is an early Union Hardware Company bevel edge wood socket chisel,not sure of era, but probably prior to 1946, when the company quit making toolrelated items.
The chisel is stampedwith the Union Hardware Company, Torrington, Conn.logo on the upper ferrule.
The chisel is 12 5/8”in overall length, and 8 7/8\" long from the blade tip to the end of thesocket, the handle is 3 5/8” long.
The blade is a bevel edgeand is 3/4\" wide.
Thechisel is in good condition and has been cleaned,…..the blade edge needs a finehoning,…. A New Old Stock handle was fitted and installed…..…..Aswith the vintage of the chisel there is some normal wear, a few minor dings,and some discoloration, all as noted from the photos.
