Rigid Knives was founded in the early 1970s by former Buck Knives craftsmen Bill Duff, and Don Collum. The two gentlemen left Buck Knives with a goal set in mind to build tougher, overbuilt, and more robust knife alternatives; made to outlast, and outperform popular brands like the Buck 110.
Known in the community as \"tanks,\" these knives feature substantial heft, thick brass frames, and ergonomical form fitting finger grooves. The Rigid USA \"R9 Apache\" features the following :
• an overall blade length of 3.5 inches
• an overall open length of 8.75 inches
• an overall closed length of 5.25 inches
• an approximate weight of 9-10 oz
• 440C Stainless Steel blade
• Rosewood scale
• Brass Bolstering & Pinning
Considering the age of this piece, the blade is in excellent condition. Featuring little to no signs of use, with it\'s factory edge present, made from 440C stainless steel to be corrosion resistant, and edge retentive. Opens and closes with ease, locks tight and closes smoothly. With a slight blade wobble, no stick lock, and NO RUST!
The handle itself is in fairly great condition. Made from a stunning, dense, Rosewood scale. Featuring hefty Brass bolstering, with contoured finger grooves to improve grip and ergonomic fit. Back to taking the age of the piece into consideration; the only flaws present on the handle would be the scuffing and scratches I\'d assume to be from manufacturing, as well as the minor pitting on the brass, where the majority of the pitting can be seen towards the bottom right side of the bolstering.
This knife is in fantastic condition, and has truly proved that these models were built to withstand the tests of Rigid USA \"R11 Caddo\" features the following :

Featuring practically no signs of use, with it\'s factory edge present, made from 440C stainless steel to be corrosion resistant, and edge retentive. Opens and closes with ease, locks good and closes smoothly. With minimal blade wobble, no stick lock, and NO RUST!
The handle itself is in excellent condition. Made from a rich, dense, South American hardwood scale. Featuring hefty Brass bolstering, with the same type of contoured finger grooves as the previously mentioned R9, to improve grip and ergonomic fit. With only slight scratches and scuffing from what I\'d assume to be obtained from manufacturing, as well as very slight pitting along the bolsterings; this knife is in outstanding condition.
Just a breathtaking piece that has truly proved that these models were built to withstand the tests of time!
*A pair of knives in this condition don\'t just waltz into everyday, and I had to set the price according to other sold listings, while taking into account the conditioning of those ones sold compared to the ones I have pictured.
