"WISHBONE" SINGLE LILY EPERGNE SUPER COLORS MARIGOLD CARNIVAL GLASS BY NORTHWOOD For Sale

This is a original Single Lily Epergne from The Carnival Glass era 1905 /1929 period is 10" tall by 8" wide 2 piece. I do not know where to start on describing this piece. It is done in a Marigold Luster By the Northwood Glass Co. The Base has great colors inside and out and the Horn matches it very well. The unusual thing about this Lily is that it is fitted with the tip of a latex glove on the insertion end of the lily and it fits very firmly. No wobble and no glass to glass contact which means less chance of getting chips from contact. When you pick it up to move it around there is no movement of the lily at all. The lily fits firmly enough that it takes a little pull to take it out, but not much. It is such a good idea that I am going to do it to all my epergnes and I have a bunch of them. The amazing thing is that the whole thing has survived this long with such a delicate ruffle edge treatment. The glass is clean and very glossy and has no chips, cracks or scratches. I cannot believe that it is over 100 years old and has all survived with no damage to the base of the Lily or the insertion hole. This is right out of a house of a 100 year old gentleman that just went into a home. His wife passed several years ago. They bought most of their glass in the 40's & 50's.
