1803 NC BOND WATERMARK 1st SHERIFF CHATHAM COUNTY ELISHA CAIN REVOLUTIONARY WAR:
$499.99

A rare document measuring approximately 12 x 7 1/2 inches. Includes former Sheriff Elisha Cain, first Sheriff of Chatham County, NC and member of its Revolutionary War Militia; see more information below. Watermark is a mystery and research of American Watermarks, 1690-1835, by Thomas L. Gravel, did not identify this watermark. It appears primitive and I attributed as a North Carolina watermark, possibly Wilmington, NC. Stored and shipped folded in half. Thanks for looking.
