Here\'s a scarce early pontiled medicine bottle from Philadelphia....HARRIS TURNER & HALE PHILADELPHIA bold emb on sunken front panel....WHOLESALE / DRUGGISTS on side panels.....Open pontil....crude applied tapered lip...aqua...rect..5 1/2\"tall...Excellent condition with no chips or damage. Some light inside haze, but not bad. I had never seen this bottle before....its a hard one to find!..Harris, Turner & Hale were in business from 1849 into the 1850s. They were the exclusive manufacturers of Harris, Turner & Hale\'s Sugar Coated Pills and Harris, Turner & Hale\'s Compound Syrup of Spigelia (also known as Vegetable Vermifuge). The latter was widely advertised in the 1840s and 1850s as a safer, highly concentrated, and pleasant alternative to traditional worm medicine teas for children...The Syrup of Spigelia was probably what was in this bottle originally....
