Original Civil War-era political broadside, issued in Buckfield, Maine, dated Sept. 2, 1861. Headed “To the Republicans of Sumner and Woodstock” and “Buckfield Republican Town Caucus.”
The text defends the integrity of the local caucus against accusations of Democratic interference and documents a Republican resolution to support the Union war effort. Resolutions reaffirm loyalty to the Constitution, denounce Southern rebellion, and pledge defense of the Union.
