The South Carolina Railroad Company (SCRC) was formed in 1843 with the merger of two smaller lines, the South Carolina Canal & Railroad Company and the Louisville, Cincinnati & Charleston Railroad Company. Its line ran north from Charleston. Southern Railway acquired the SCRC in 1893. For sale is a very rare document-- a freight receipt dated November 22, 1873 - for a shipment from Charleston to Williston, South Carolina. The hand-written receipt measures appx 8x4 inches and is printed on mid-weight paper. For something now 150 years old, it is in very good condition. All writing/markings are from its preparation and processing. It has no rips or tears.
