THE TOWN NAME \"SUMNER\" GOES BACK TO THE 1890\'S...AND LATER WAS CHANGED TO \"KERN CITY\"....AND FINALLY KNOWN TODAY AS A REGION IN \"BAKERSFIELD\"....SO FINDING A BOTTLE WITH THE LONG ANTIQUATED TOWN NAME OF \"SUMNER, CALIFORNIA\" IS AWESOME !!!

The old 1977 Toynton catalog shows that \"Blodget & Dudley\" started in these 2 towns around 1893,,,

THE ORIGINAL OWNER THOUGHT THIS WAS A TOUGHER ONE TO FIND IN THIS PRISTINE CONDITION.....AND HE WOULD KNOW...HE WAS THE LATE AUTHOR ED MILLER WHO WROTE THE \"BIBLE\" OF CALIFORNIA DRUG STORE BOTTLES AND DOSE GLASSES...

THIS IS A GORGEOUS UNCLEANED SPECIMEN....HOPING YOU CAN TELL HOW NICE THIS ONE IS FROM MY AVERAGE PICTURE TAKING ABILITY :)...THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL BOTTLE...TNERE IS WHAT I WOULD CALL A TINY INTERNAL POTSTONE IN THE NECK (see images 8 & 9) WHICH LOOKING AT WITH A 10X LOOP I BELIEVE IS \"IN THE MOLD\" AS MADE, NOT DAMAGE ....CAN FIND NO DAMAGE, DISPLAYS NICELY

The historic and beautiful old towns of BAKERSFIELD & SUMNER (East Bakersfield) are located in Kern County...not far from Lake Isabella, Tehachapi, Oildale and Shafter California

The bottle is what I would call lightpurple colored glass, it is a medium size and stands 5 1/4\" tall ...and it is a very beautiful specimen (as mentioned a small internal potstoneon neck, under a 10x loop appears to be in the mold), just has not been cleaned at all but glass is great., neat bottle. Crisp embossing on this one......no damage i could find, would turn deeper purple if exposed to sun...
