1892 Judge Mag Illus. THE COUNTRY NEEDS A CHANGE Uncle Sam & Free Trade Dems For Sale

Here is an original Judge Magazine illustration from an April 1892 issue (the date is penciled in on the reverse side). It measures approximately 14" x 10.5" and has material loss, small edge tears and small folds along its borders and a vertical 6" tear starting from its lower left corner. It is entitled: "The Country Needs A Change"– Democratic newspaper cry. Uncle Sam (to Free-trade Editor) – "I suppose that state of things would just about suit you, Eh? You blockhead!"

Depicted is Uncle Sam admonishing a Democratic donkey Free Trade supporter as they survey relief boats heading towards distressed countries abroad – Austria, Russia, Germany and Ireland. The reverse side has advertisements. The artist is Hamilton, and despite its shortcomings, this would look great framed and cropped, which I'll leave up to you. Thanks for looking at this sale.
