Of particular Masonic interest, the title page states that the march was “As played at the Triennial Conclaves of Knights Templars at Denver, 1892, and Boston, 1895.” This directly associates the composition with historic Knights Templar gatherings of the late 19th century.
The music is arranged for piano, with a visible trio section marked “Onward! Christian Soldier.” The rear advertising page promotes other sheet music available from F. Trifet. An excellent piece of period ephemera combining Masonic and Knights Templar history, Boston history, and 19th-century American sheet music.
Condition: This example shows substantial age and use. Pages have toning, scattered spotting and soiling, creases, edge and corner wear, tears and small losses along the margins. The sheets are separated/loose as photographed, with splitting and losses along the former fold or binding area. Some pencil writing is visible along a margin. Despite the wear, the decorative 1895 title page and printed music remain clearly legible.
