1897 Antique Progressive Chautauqua Educational Card Game Complete w/ Box For Sale

Rare, antique 1897 educational card game: Progressive Chautauqua Cards (Series I: National American Characters), created by Florence Crosby Parsons and copyrighted in 1897 by W. M. Ford. This historical trivia game includes a deck of 70 character cards, plus the double-sided instruction and index card.

Condition:

• Cards: Very good antique condition overall. The deck shows light, expected handling wear consistent with age, but remains clean, highly readable, and complete. 1 card has a strip of damage - see photo.

• Box / Packaging (Please Read Carefully): The original storage box was originally a two-piece slipcase style (featuring an inner tray that slid into an outer sleeve). Please note that the outer sliding sleeve piece is broken and has separated into multiple pieces, as shown in the accompanying photos. The box shows heavy edge wear, splitting, scuffing, and surface dirt common for late-19th-century paperboard packaging. While damaged, it is still included as the original housing for the set and has terrific appeal to the eye despite it\'s condition.
