Antique Jas. Bute illustrated billhead from Houston, Texas, stamped February 3, 1898. Features ornate advertising lettering, an artist’s palette design, and a detailed illustration of the Main Street store with horse-drawn vehicles.
The printed heading advertises paints, oils, wallpaper, window glass, window shades, Paris green, and London purple. Business addresses include 205 Main Street and 1010–1012–1014 Franklin Street.
The handwritten purchaser’s name is believed to read “M. T. Jones.” Item entries are believed to include boiled oil, white lead, and turpentine. These interpretations of the cursive writing are not guaranteed; please review the close-up photographs for your own assessment.
Condition: Age-related paper toning, fold lines, scattered spotting, minor edge wear, and small edge splits/nicks are visible. Handwritten entries and stamped date remain visible. Reverse is blank with toning and fold marks. Please examine all photos for condition and the ruler shown for scale.
