  Description:
  Original late-19th-century astronomical plate illustrating detailed telescopic observations of the planet Mars during the 1898–1899 opposition. Titled “Mars 1898–1899”, this plate (Tafel VII) presents four rendered views of Mars at different dates and rotational longitudes, showing surface features as observed through a Reinfelder refractor telescope.

  Drawn by astronomer K. Satori at the Sirius Observatory (Sirius 1899) and published by Ed. H. Mayer’s Verlag, Leipzig, the plate includes precise observational data such as dates, times, degrees, atmospheric conditions, magnification, and instrument specifications (12½ cm aperture, 195 cm focal length). Lithographed by E. A. Funke, Leipzig.
