Antique 1899 United States government pre-stamped 1-cent John Adams postal card featuring a historically significant piece of Gilded Age industrial and machine tool manufacturing ephemera. Hand-dated December 2, 1899, this card details a direct business-to-business order confirmation from the prominent Worcester firm Wilson & Smith (Manufacturers of Cold Punched Nuts, Washers, and Metal Stamping), acknowledging an order for a custom mechanical tool: \"Punch and die to sample and drawings is received and will have prompt attention.\" The message includes handwritten technical engineering adjustments specifying the punch dimensions as 7/8\" wide by 7/8\" deep, alongside an archival filing note reading \"Ansd. Dec 4/99.\"
The card is beautifully addressed to noted Connecticut mechanical manufacturer and inventor L. D. Parkhurst in Danielson, Connecticut. The address side features a very clean, crisp circular Worcester, Mass. postmark dated December 2, 1899, cleanly tied with a machine wavy line cancellation over the integrated stamp. A superb, archive-quality item for collectors of early American industrial machining history, antique tool advertising, localized New England engineering heritage, and late-Victorian postal stationery.
