This “Buy it Now” offering is for three antique clay poker chips engraved with the profile of a Native American Chief in feather headdress in three colors: red, white and blue. Among poker chip collectors, this chip is known as Indian Chief Engraved (PE-JK). This historic design appeared as early as 1906 in the U.S. Playing Card Company (Cincinnati) catalog of gambling supplies.Clay chips began replacing ivory chips beginning in the 1880s and manufacturers created dozens of designs to prevent players from bringing in their own identical chips rather than “buying in.” The diverse and graphic designs make them popular with collectors today. These chips display beautifully and would make a great addition to any poker chip collection or gift for the poker or western enthusiast.
CONDITION: These chips are in very good condition for their age and years of use. They have nearly complete inking on the display side of the chips and only minor loss on the reverse side. Although clay chips are susceptible to dings from use, I only see minor edge wear in this group. Group photos show both sides of the chips for your assessment of condition. You receive the actual items in the photos.
These are standard size 1.5-inch diameter chips.
COMBINED SHIPPING DISCOUNTS: I only charge actual shipping cost (USPS Ground Advantage), so see mylistings for more and save on multiple purchases!
