College Football Hall of Famer and NFL pioneer*Bobby Marshallis clearly pictured in uniform among his teammates during this legendary campaign.Bobby was the first African American to play football in the Big Ten and one of the very first Black players in the NFL (1920).This captures the golden era of early Minnesota Golden Gophers athletics under legendary Coach Henry L. Williams, documenting baseball, track, and campus life.Book also includesrare, historic photographs of the early University of Minnesota Women's Basketball team. Along with a full-page portrait of University President Cyrus Northrop, other sports team photos, group and student photos and many pages of period advertisements.Original owner's name written on front flyleaf, pen transferred to endpaper when closed.Book is in good to very good condition for its age. Cover shows wear to surface and edges, bumping to outside corners, wear to top and bottom spine with a 1.25" bottom spine edge tear. Internal pages show light soiling or light finger smudges, but most pages are clean, crisp, and free of writing (other than owner's name in front),with beautiful toning appropriate for a 120+ year-old book. The first page is separated from the front endpaper/spine, but still attached at the top edge. Overall, the binding is tight, structurally sound. The top corner of two pages weren't cut cleanly in production, shown in closeup photo.Please review all photos closely for exact condition.
