William L. Gilbert Black Mantel Clock – Pillar with Lions Greek Revival Case (Untested / For Restoration)American Edwardian Era black mantel clock manufactured by the renowned William L. Gilbert Clock Company of Winsted, Connecticut.The internal brass movement plate features the official company stamping and is clearly date-stamped 1908.This clock features a grand, architectural case flanked by triple fluted gold columns, red faux-marbled upper accent blocks, side-mounted cast-metal lion heads with ring handles, and ornate scrolled feet.Condition Notes (Selling "As-Is" / Untested):
Please review all photos carefully, as they serve as the primary description of the clock's physical condition.Movement: Selling as untested. The large mainsprings are intact, and the gears move, but the clock has not been wound or tested for timekeeping accuracy. The internal brass plate shows an old solder/epoxy repair on the upper left side. The internal bell,
wire gong, and pendulum bob are present. Winding key is NOT included.Dial: The cream-colored chapter ring shows heavy antique discoloration, yellowing, and faint staining consistent with its 115+ year age. The original black hands and Arabic numerals remain fully legible.Case: The black wood casing has minor surface scuffs, fine cracking, and a few paint chips along the lower edges/corners that expose the raw wood underneath. The gold finish on the metal pillars and feet has dulled into a dark, authentic patina.This is a fantastic restoration project for a clock enthusiast or a gorgeous decorative statement piece for a mantel, bookshelf, or library.
