We are offering the handwritten \"Sekreterarebok\" (Secretary\'s Book) of the Women\'s Association of the Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church, a Swedish Lutheran (Augustana synod) congregation, that was located at the corner of Fourth Street and Mills Avenue at 504 4th St in Braddock, Pennsylvania. During the period of this minute book, the Pastor of this church was Rev. Marten (Persson) Parson (1867-1932) and his wife, Lucille, was the Secretary of the Women\'s Association and maintained this book. This minute book was written in Swedish but can be easily translated to English by taking a picture of the page using Google App.

The women\'s association at Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church was generally referred to as \"Women of Bethel\" and was part of the larger Women of the ELCA (WELCA) organization. The group\'s activities and purpose was generally threefold:

  • Spiritual Growth: Engaging in Bible study and promoting Christian fellowship among members.
  • Congregational Service: Serving the specific needs of the local congregation.
  • Missionary Support: Supporting various educational, charitable, and missionary projects.

– Financial tables and budget notations
– Names of clergy, treasurers and committee members from the era.
