Original World War I U.S. Model 1916 leather holster manufactured by Hoyt and dated 1918.
This authentic U.S. military holster was produced for the Colt M1911 service pistol and retains its original oval U.S. embossing on the front along with the maker’s stamp Hoyt 1918 J.J.M. on the reverse.
The holster displays an attractive untouched military patina developed over more than a century. It retains its original brass hardware, wire belt hooks, and strong overall shape.
An interesting period-carved marking reading “7B-7” (or similar) appears on the front flap. While its exact meaning is unknown, it was likely added during military service as a rack, unit, or inventory identifier and adds to the history of the piece.
Condition shows honest service wear including surface scratches, age-related leather shrinkage, cracking around the upper hanger area, and some stitching separation. The drain grommet at the toe is missing. Please review all photographs carefully as they form part of the description.
This holster has only been lightly cleaned with distilled water to remove loose surface dust. No leather conditioner, oils, dyes, or restoration products have been used.
