Original circa early 1920s real photo postcard showing an oil-field driller standing completely covered in crude oil in the El Dorado oil fields of Arkansas. The worker is shown in oil-soaked clothing and hat beside field equipment, making for an unusually graphic occupational image from the early Arkansas petroleum boom.
Period inscription in the negative reads “Driller standing in oil / El Dorado Fields / Photo by Kime & Hogue / No. 75.” Kime & Hogue photographed scenes connected with the El Dorado oil boom, which began after the major 1921 discovery and rapidly transformed the region into one of the country’s important petroleum centers.
AZO divided postcard back. Unused and unmailed. Shows age-related toning, light staining, surface wear, and normal corner and edge wear. Please review photos closely for condition.
