1920s NEVASMOK Smokeless Ashtray Glass Metal Patent Pending Yankee NY Antique For Sale

Antique late-1920s NEVASMOK “Smokeless and Odorless” ash receiver featuring a heavy clear glass body with original metal top and internal cigarette-extinguishing mechanism.

NEVASMOK ash receivers were produced by Yankee Metal Products Corp. of New York and were advertised by 1928 as a novel way to extinguish cigarettes while helping contain stale smoke and odor. Period advertising identifies the product as the NEVASMOK Smokeless and Odorless Ash Receiver and notes that patents were pending, consistent with the marking found on this example. USModernist

This appears to date from approximately 1928–1930.

The piece has an attractive faceted clear glass body with a removable metal upper assembly. The internal mechanism remains present, as shown in the photos.

Condition: Good to very good antique condition. The glass is excellent with no chips or cracks. The metal top shows age-related oxidation, spotting and light surface rust, giving it an attractive original antique patina. I have intentionally left the metal in its current aged condition rather than aggressively polishing or refinishing it.

A very unusual surviving example of an early American smoking accessory and a great display piece for collectors of tobacco memorabilia, Art Deco-era accessories, barware, early advertising items or unusual mechanical ashtrays.
